breeding of generations of working and

There are several pigs in this pen, and one good dog can successfully hold a sounder of pigs or a herd of cattle in the woods. These are natural born instincts, not the style to win bay pen competitions, but this dog is a very good woods dog, and she holds a bay nice and easy.
THE SHOWS >>
Brick House does attend field trials & shows for many reasons; One is to enjoy Our dogs, and another is to visit with other Catahoula owners with similar goals. It also gives Us an opportunity to set training/conditioning goals prior to a trial date. Then We get to see how Our dogs will perform in a stressful environment. You really get to see where Your dog and Your efforts stack up according to the opinion of a total stranger asked to judge on specified criteria to the best of their ability on that particular day. Its FUN! First and Foremost, however, Our dogs true measure of ability is based on their drive to hunt and work in real life situations, where We are the true judge & jury of BH dogs, and Our own biggest critics.
No Dog For Sale? >>
We get asked Why do You have so many dogs, build such big kennels, work so many, always doing something/going somewhere with the dogs, if You're not going to sell any ?
Our answer is in multi-parts: 1. When We have acquired and proven enough quality dogs to be able to breed exactly what We are expecting in a dog, only then will we make them available for sale. 2. It takes quite awhile to run a dog through the gauntlet and put them through their paces in order to find their strengths and weaknesses so We can know if the dog qualifies to put Our brand on it. If the dog is not good enough for Brick House, then It's not good enough to put up "For Sale" .
